The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is going to be holding the Teen Driver Challenge Class on Thursday, Feb 25th, 2010 and Saturday, Feb 27th, 2010.
The class is formatted for teens 15-19 years of age who possess a valid Florida Operator's Driver's License or Learner's Permit.
The students will be required to use their own vehicle during the training.

The Teen Driver Challenge consists of two training days totaling twelve hours. The first day includes a four block of instruction in the classroom, while the second day is an eight hour block on the driving range.
The classroom block will cover topics related to:
- Teen Crash Facts
- Knowing Your Vehicle
- Use "Common Senses" When Driving
- Belt Yourself - It Won't Hurt
- Vehicle Dynamics
- Safe Driving Can Be Habit Forming
- Alcohol - the $8000.00 Drink
- Aggressive Driving
- Driving Exercises
The driving pad block of instruction will consist of the following exercises:
- Figure 8
- Threshold Braking
- Forward Serpentine
- Reverse Serpentine
- Cornering
- Off Road Recovery

The class will be instructed by MCSO Driving Instructors.
Class size is limited to twelve. There is no cost to participate in the class.
